What makes you different?

So I've been scrounging around recently in an attempt to gather family history items. I have been fortunate enough to get a large collection from my aunt in Nebraska as well as a large amount of photos from my uncle in Arizona (one of them). My dad is on his way to Nebraska for a family reunion (his mother's branch) so I can only hope to get more info.

Genealogy is one of those hobbies I dabble in when I get time. To date, with the help of many, many others, I've amassed a family tree that has 29,000 individuals spanning back to 1331.

Let that sink in for a second.

1331. That's before the Black Death in Europe. That's before the Ming Dynasty in China. That's before Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.

Frightening and curious all at once.

So, needless to say, I enjoy it. And so far, I've enjoyed the letters and documents I've been able to find (and scan) dating back to 1863 (with most in the 1900-1930 range). Well, this morning I came across one about me.

One that clearly explains why I'm a bit "different" than others. Read this excerpt and tell me what you think.

What do I think??? I think we were frightened, young, inexperienced parents. And we were so glad that this kind Dr. was so reassuring.

I really don't like to think about those days. It was all way too traumatic for me. And is exactly why you have no siblings. I knew I could not handle it all again.

By the way.... you made that Dr. laugh. He was happy to see you. You climbed right up on his lap and talked to him.

So what makes you different? That you are SO special. In SO many ways. And if somebody doesn't believe you, have them ask your Mom.

Love, Mom

Seems to me as though have the Large Lester Head. Surprise, surprise!

What hat size do you wear now? My dad can hardly ever get hats that fit off the rack - and if so, they're always on the last adjustable hole. Most stores don't carry sized hats large enough. I also have a big head (you know what I mean). And, because Henri does, too - our kids have HUGE heads! The doctors, upon delivery, said "I think we're going to need to do a c-section ... that's a BIG head!". That was said each time. And no c-sections. UGH.

Tell Yvonne I feel for her... :)

The Doc says you were shuddering...maybe the air conditioning was set too low. Melissa says we keep it to cold for her too!

Melissa and Jace have big mellons too. They must be "specyl" like you.

It's neat the geneology bug bit you too.

Mom - I'm sure you were scared. Never a doubt in my mind of that. But it is interesting that the doctor made a reference to you calling the "girls in the office" nearly every day. Sounds very much like a first-time parent.

Cinda - (Sorry, "cinda") - I'm not sure that large heads are exclusive to the Lesters. According to the records, Grandma had a large head too. And, for me, it was worse with Dad having a large head too. As to my hat size, it's over 7 and nearly 8. Can't remember the exact size though.

Jared - I've always been "specyl" and so have you. What else explains us dressing as girls and riding around in a car in front of Aunt Diana's house?
