40 Years Ago Today - March 23, 1970

This is *not* the actual date assigned to this particular entry but it seemed fitting to me to use my mother's birthday to highlight one of her many contributions to society. In this case, it was a paper she wrote while going to college. The title was "Southern Maryland Indian Settlement Patterns In The 17th Century" and it's actually pretty neat to read. I won't pretend to understand it all but it made sense enough for me to follow along with what she was saying. I also enjoyed how, because it was the norm at the time, the use of maps and charts were a little more rudimentary than what we're used to seeing today. After all, hand colored maps probably would not be allowed for most college paper these days.

Here's one of the hand drawn and hand colored maps.
